Allen leads Westerwinds at Hawkeye Invitational

IOWA CITY, Iowa. - Western Illinois junior Becky Allen tied for 35th place at the Hawkeye Invitational as the Westerwinds finished in 13th, Sunday.

Allen led Western with rounds of 82, 77 and 87 for a 36-hole score of 246. Sophomore Jennifer Holt finished the tournament tied for 65th place with a score of 260 (89, 83, 88). Freshmen Lindsay Wandrey and Claire Gursh tied for 65th and 68th, while sophomore Jenna Keane took 72nd place.

Wisconsin’s Katie Elliot led her team to second place with a tournament win, finishing with a three-hole total of 217. UT Chattanooga took the tournament title from the 13-team field with a final score of 909 (300, 298, 311). The Westerwinds had a three-round score of 1026 (341, 330, 355) on the par 72 Finkbine Golf Course.

Western Illinois will return to competition when they gost IUPUI for the Ryder Cup Match, Oct. 15-16 at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course.
