Junior Daniel Evans threw three touchdown passes and NC State never trailed in a 34-20 victory over East Carolina Saturday afternoon at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. The Wolfpack (2-5 overall) jumped out to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter, saw that cut to just one point in the third period and then forced an interception that led to a victory-sealing touchdown pass from Evans to Donald Bowens with 8:32 remaining in the game. The Wolfpack defense ended the Pirates' comeback hopes by sacking ECU quarterback Rob Kass on back-to-back play with about six minutes to play. Evans, making his third start of the season, was accurate all afternoon, completing 29 of his 44 passes for 335 yards, three touchdowns and one interception against the Pirates (4-4 overall).
