WIU, Donaldson to appear on Chicago taxi tops
December 1, 2007 on 9:10 pm | In Athletics |MACOMB, Ill. - Now that Western Illinois running back Herb Donaldson has been dodging
linebackers for two years, fans may see him weaving in and out of heavy
traffic in downtown Chicago.
Donaldson was chosen by the university’s marketing department as one of two students to represent WIU on 50 Chicagoland taxis this month. He and Nicole Sutlife from the Quad Cities campus will appear on taxi toppers touting the school’s affordable education, its Princeton Review ranking as a “Best in the Midwest College.”
In addition to the taxis, Donaldson, a junior broadcasting major, will be featured on three billboards in the Chicago area listing Western’s ranking as a “Top Tier School” by U.S. News & World Report. The boards will be located at Interstate 294 North Tri State Toll Way, .7 miles south of Grand Avenue on the east side of road; Interstate 55 Stevenson Highway, .5 miles east of Central Avenue on the south side of road; and Interstate 80 Expressway, .5 miles west of Halsted Street on the north side of road. Closer to home, a billboard is also on display on Route 67 just north of Macomb.
“Western is an excellent option for a quality and affordable education,” said Director of University Marketing, Kristin Dunstan. “By increasing our presence in Chicago more people will know that WIU is a great place to go to school. Applications to Western were at an all time high this fall.”
