Guinn named Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year Runner-Up

MACOMB, Ill.- Western Illinois women’s soccer head coach Tony Guinn was named Coach of the Year Runner-Up for the Great Lakes region by Soccer Buzz Magazine. Junior Ashley Hoch was named to the all-regional third team.

In his first year at the helm of the Western Illinois soccer program, Guinn guided the Westerwinds to a school record 16-3-1 record. Western also captured The Summit League regular season title after a perfect 8-0-0 record in league play, which lead to Guinn being named The Summit League Coach of the Year.

Purdue’s Robert Klatte was named Coach of the Year in the Great Lakes Region.

Hoch (Brookfield, Wis./Central) led the Westerwinds in goals (7) and points (19) and was named to the Summit League all-league first team. She scored two goals in the conference championship semi-final to lead Western Illinois to the conference championship game for the second year in the row.
