Baseball clinic deadline approaches
February 2, 2008 on 10:25 pm | In Athletics |MACOMB, Ill. - The deadlines for registering for Western Illinois University’s two “Rookie-MVP” Baseball Clinics in January is quickly approaching.
Several spots remain open in both clinics but players are encouraged to sign up soon. The first clinic will be held this Sunday, Jan. 13, and the second clinic is slated for Sunday, Jan. 27. Both clinics will be held in Western Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Limited space is available in each clinic.
The individualized introductory-to-advanced level instruction is open to players six years or older. Players will be taught pitching, hitting, defense, base running, bunting, nutrition, weight training, conditioning, and teamwork. Players who attend both clinics will receive advanced, specialized instruction and drills during their second clinic.
Cost for one clinic is $75 and $125 for both, if paid in advance. On site registration is $85 the day of each clinic.
“Spaces remain open in both clinics,” said Coach Hyman. “However, from experience, they fill up quickly this week and the week before the next clinic. We’re not planning on turning anyone away but pre-registration not only saves money but also allows us to better prepare individual skills sessions.”
For a clinic application or more information, either download an application off the Western Illinois athletics website at www.wiuathletics.com and click on baseball or contact the baseball office at (309) 298-1521.
