TULSA, Okla. Jerryck Owens-Murrey recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds but the Leathernecks dropped their second-straight on the road, 76-55 at Oral Roberts.

The Golden Eagles (12-5, 7-0 Summit) opened up the game with an 8-0 run, silenced by a pair of Jerryck Owens-Murrey free throws. The first field-goal for the Leathernecks (8-10, 3-4 Summit) did not come until the 16:09 mark of the first half, courtesy of a Chris Gonzalez tip-in. After a pair of ORU baskets, David DuBois connected on a three-pointer for Western to cut the lead to 13-7. David Jackson followed up the next Golden Eagle bucket with a pair of free throws that brought the Leathernecks within five at 15-10, but it was as close as they would get the rest of the half. ORU was able to stretch their lead to as many as 14 before taking the 35-22 advantage at the break.

Western struggled the entire first half on the offensive end of the court, shooting 19 percent (5-of-26) from the floor. ORU hit 54 percent (14-of26) of their shots to help build their halftime lead. Half of the scoring for the Leathernecks came from the free throw line, where they hit 85 percent (11-of-13) of their attempts, while the Golden Eagles struggled to go 20 percent (2-of-10).

ORU stretched their lead to 24 points, at 59-35, with 9:04 left in the game. James Washington answered the run with a layup for the Leathernecks and followed up with a three-pointer on the ensuing possession to make it a 59-40 score. ORU had an immediate answer with a three from Moses Ehambe to build its lead back to 20 points, an advantage the Golden Eagles did not relinquish the rest of the game.

Western won the battle on the glass 38-35. ORU controlled bench points for the game 36-15, as well as points in the paint 38-26.

Owens-Murrey was joined by Jackson with 15 points in double-digits. The Golden Eagles landed four players in double figures, led by 13 from Ehambe and Marcus Lewis.

The Leathernecks return to Macomb for four-straight home games, beginning with IPFW on Thursday, January 24, at 7 p.m.
