ELMHURST, Ill.- The Western Illinois men’s tennis team was ranked second in The Summit League preseason poll, one point behind first-place Oral Roberts.

The Leathernecks received 33 points and three first-place votes in the preseason poll of the league’s seven head coaches. Oral Roberts finished just ahead of Western with 34 points and four first-place votes.

The Leathernecks return six players from last year’s team that finished second in the league and won 15 matches. Leading the way is last year’s Player of the Year, Martin Bostrm. Western also returns Andy Jones, Neil Lesinski, Sean Ragee-Nelson, Michael Schild, and Michael Tiu. The Leathernecks welcome junior college transfer Zach Frisch and freshman Francisco Ortiz to the 2008 squad.

Two points separated IUPUI and UMKC for third and fourth. IPFW, Centenary, and South Dakota State round out the poll.
