Delahunt, Harris take first at Elite Invitational

MADISON, Wis.- The Western Illinois men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams took first in three events at the University of Wisconsin’s Elite Invitational held at Camp Randall Sports Memorial Sports Center.

Junior ChrisDell Harris (Wichita, Kan./West/Barton County CC) took first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.66, tying the school’s indoor record in the process. Harris followed her performance in the 60-meter dash with another first place finish in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line with a time of 25.52. Harris has now finished first in the 60-meter dash in all three events she has participated in at Western.

Senior Sean Delahunt (Pekin, Ill./Pekin Community) took first in the shot put with a throw off 55-00.00(16.76m), two feet further than the second-place finisher.

Freshman Andrew Ryan took seventh in the pole vault with a vault of 16-01.25(4.91m), but broke his own school indoor record that he set at the Purdue Invitational.

Another top-three finish came from sophomore Katie Jay in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:40.14, just four seconds behind the first-place runner.

Western will resume action Saturday, February 2, as it takes part in the University of Northern Iowa’s Dome Open.
