Inspirational seminar to be held at Western Hall

MACOMB, Ill.- Michael Cooper, a motivational speaker who is a recovering alcoholic, will present an inspirational seminar at 7 p.m. Monday, April 7 at Western Hall on the campus of Western Illinois University.

Cooper’s seminar will address decision making, goal setting, peer pressure, accountability, handling adversity, alcohol abuse and drinking and driving, through the telling of his real life story involving alcohol abuse. According to his website, www.begoodtoyourself.us, Cooper was an alcoholic, convicted twice for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), when he met a coach who inspired him to turn his life around. Cooper is now a marathon runner and has spoken at more than 500 schools.

The inspirational seminar, open to WIU student athletes, is sponsored by WIU Athletics and the Summit League as part of the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association)/CHAMPS (Challenging Athletes’ Minds for Personal Success) life skills program.
